As part of the Hyundai Motor Company’s exhibit at the 2012 Expo in Korea, the Jonpasang media arts group have created what can only be described as a fantasic physical form of a pixelated display. Three walls contain thousands of blocks that measure 300mm square – and each block can be individually controlled to slide in and out of its’ position.
In doing so, the creators can choreograph a wide variety of stunning visual effects. Furthermore images are also projected over the blocks to complete some visual effects. The following video contains the making-of documentary: http://vimeo.com/48285842.
And here is the landscape in action:
You have to congratulate the designers, and Hyundai for commissioning such a project. For more information visit the article here: http://www.creativeapplications.net/environment/hyper-matrix-thousands-of-physical-pixels-in-a-180o-vertical-landscape/
